Nobody has been a better friend to the conservative movement than South Carolina Representative Trey Gowdy. He also served on the select House Committee that investigated the Benghazi terrorist attacks. At a recent event he slammed the derogatory record of President Obama.
Gowdy spoke in front of a national advocacy group of veterans where he castigated President Obama and his administration for their treatment of the veterans healthcare system. As well as the despicable way he treated whistleblowers from the Veteran Affairs department and the Internal Revenue Service.
While standing next to members of the group Concerned Veterans for America Gowdy said the following,
“I don’t like bullies. Government against whistle blowers is an unequal fight. Free speech is the ability to speak truth to power without consequences. With very few limitations, you have the right to say what you want to say. But as a responsible citizen, I have to use that right judiciously. There are people in the media who are professional and their are some who have lost all pretense of objectivity.”
He slammed the Democratic party for their distortion of the Constitution. He continued on saying,
“Constitutional equilibrium is out of whack. I wish my colleagues would just read the document and not confuse it with the Declaration of Independence or a poem by Robert Frost.”
Gowdy is right. Democrats perceive the constitution as a living, breathing document that is changeable with the times. Not the staunch, stalwart document it is that should be used as a foundational base that remains largely unchanged with minor nuances that change as the years go on.
President Obama has distorted the Constitution in an attempt to silence his detractors and those who disagree with him and it is grossly unacceptable. Now that Donald Trump will be taking office shortly it is clear that this will not be an issue over the next four years.
