A California teen was arrested after being caught on tape brawling with his PE teacher. The incident, which took place at Mt. Diablo High School in the city of Concord, could result in the 15-year-old student’s expulsion.
In the video, which appears to have been filmed in a locker room, the student violently attacks as the PE teacher attempts to subdue him. Blood appears to streak from the teacher’s face as he sustains a flurry of punches from the student before eventually getting knocked the ground, at which point the clip ends.
“The student was walking towards the gym. The teacher told him he couldn’t be there,” Concord Police Cpl. Chris Blakely told NBC Bay Area. “Some words were exchanged between him and the teacher and it lead to a physical altercation.”
According to Cpl. Blakely, the teacher suffered a minor injury but refused medical attention. He has been placed on administrative leave pending the investigation.
Police were promptly called and the student was placed under arrest and taken to jail, where he was booked on a felony charge. The student was then released to his parents and immediately suspended from the school.
“As some of you may have heard, we had an incident on campus yesterday afternoon involving an altercation between a student and a teacher,” the school district wrote in a message sent out to parents. “As a result of this incident, the student has been suspended in accordance with district policies for student discipline, and the teacher has been placed on administrative leave.”
