Cops can fly free of charge to New York to attend the funeral for NYPD Officer Rafael Ramos — gunned down with fellow Officer Wenjian Liu — thanks to hometown airline JetBlue.
A spokeswoman with the Queens-based company said Wednesday that it would allow two officers with each department across the nation to fly its network for free.
The funeral for Ramos will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at the Christ Tabernacle Church in Glendale, Queens. Vice President Joe Biden is expected to attend Ramos’ service.
A representative with the NYPD 25th Precinct thanked JetBlueon Twitter for offering to fly “any police officer in America” to the service.
The low-cost airline also intends to fly Liu’s relatives in from China through a partnering airline for free as well, but his funeral service has not been finalized.
JetBlue has stops throughout the U.S. except for some areas in the Pacific Northwest and Midwest, but the company is working to coordinate flights with other airlines, too.
The offer depends on seat availability during heavy holiday travel on whichever flight an officer is pursuing, JetBlue spokeswoman Sharon Jones told the Daily News in a brief phone call.
Law enforcement agencies wishing to take advantage of JetBlue’s offer can call 1-800-JETBLUE.
