Liberals have been falling all over themselves to cheer on Sgt. Jessica Hawkins, a Washington, D.C. area police officer. Hawkins is a biological male, originally named “Billy”, who now lives as a transgender female. Both local and national media outlets have praised Hawkins. But it turns out that Hawkins isn’t really a model police officer after all — he’s actually just a sick pervert.
Just this week, NBC4 News, a local news outlet, praised Hawkins as an officer who “helps build trust in [the] D.C. community” through his work in the LGBT community. NPR and Metro Weekly have also run positive stories about Hawkins, to give a few examples.
But Hawkins has a dark side that has repeatedly gotten him in trouble with his superiors.
Local station Fox 5 has reported on the disturbing allegations against Hawkins, which mostly revolve around his behavior towards police interns. “Sgt. Hawkins showed the interns a ‘homemade video of her having sex with 4 men while she was intoxicated,'” the report said. Hawkins also took underage interns to a gay bar in Arlington, Virginia, helping them to buy alcohol and laughing at one of the intern’s fake ID.
Hawkins didn’t deny the allegations; he not only admitted that he had done these things, but he also said that he had shown interns more inappropriate photos that he had taken on his cell phone.
Despite this blatant sexual harassment, Hawkins is being kept in his role. “That investigation has concluded and the findings are currently with the MPD’s disciplinary review division,” a statement read. “The DRD will review and determine an appropriate penalty. Throughout the investigation, Sergeant Hawkins remained in her current assignment and is still widely considered a valuable MPD team member in our special liaison division.”
If a straight man had behaved this way with a gay police officer, or towards a woman, showing sexually explicit videos and photos to them, there is absolutely no way that the behavior would go unpunished. But because it’s a transgender woman, for some reason it isn’t that big of a deal? No way — this behavior is unacceptable, and Hawkins clearly should be removed from his position of authority as a police officer.
