Sean Spicer is certainly a different kind of White House Press Secretary. He’s aggressive and passionate about setting the record straight and protecting President Donald Trump. He showed that in full view during his first official press briefing after President Trump was sworn in. He took off the gloves and let the media have it right in the face. It was actually very refreshing.
Spicer called them on the carpet for reporting an outright falsehood… a reporter had put out there that President Trump had removed the bust of Martin Luther King Jr. from the Oval Office. It was an outright lie and after being caught in that, the reporter joked that a Secret Service agent must have been standing in front of the bust. Just reprehensible. These are the games these lying asshats play. The difference this time is the White House is not going to meekly take it.
President Trump’s Press Secretary, Sean Spicer called out the media for their shameful coverage of the President’s inauguration.
Fox News reported: White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer angrily accused the media Saturday of “false reporting” on the inauguration as part of what he called a “shameful” attempt to minimize enthusiasm for President Trump, beginning his tenure as the administration’s top spokesman on a combative note.
Spicer summoned the press to the briefing room at the end of Trump’s first full day in office to specifically condemn two pieces of reporting – a reporter’s erroneous claim, since retracted, that an MLK bust was removed from the Oval Office; and photos appearing to show light crowds at Friday’s inauguration.
Spicer called the former claim, made on Twitter, “irresponsible and reckless.”
He went on to say inauguration photos were framed to minimize their “enormous” support on the National Mall while suggesting the reason crowds looked smaller was because floor covering used to protect the grass highlighted where people weren’t standing – and fences kept supporters from quickly accessing the scene.
Then Spicer laid into the media for using pictures of the Inauguration that intentionally made it look like there were low numbers of Americans there. That is another lie… I saw for myself a number of pics where the square was absolutely packed. They cherry picked photos as people were coming in and of areas that had a special covering on the ground. It was outright media propaganda and Spicer nailed them for it.
Spicer also slapped the media on what he called inaccurate crowd estimates, stressing, “No one had numbers,” since the National Park Service, which oversees the National Mall where spectators stand, no longer makes public an official crowd count. It’s just shameful how the media is treating Trump. No wonder he hates them and is going to severely restrict their access. Serves them right.
