It was only a matter of time before a tough-talking copycat tried to earn his 15 minutes of online fame following the recent police officer killings in New York and Florida. That idiot award goes to this guy, Charles “Charlie” DiRosa, who made a post on social media that echoed the same haunting words Ismaaiyl Brinsley wrote on Instagram right before killing NYPD Officers Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu.
Now this thug has found himself on the business end of the law he publicly opposed, and is facing charges for his apparent threat, according to CBS Boston.
In light of the recent cop killings, officers are forced to take social media posts seriously. Chicopee Police had been anonymously tipped off to DiRosa’s Internet threat by a local resident who felt that is was a “very disturbing post.”
“After the events of the past few days, the PD took this threat very seriously,” Chicopee police wrote on Facebook.
DiRosa, who is currently on probation for an unspecified conviction, may be summoned to court for Threat To Commit a Crime, if the police complaint is found to be of valid concern, NECN reported.
Whether DiRosa just wanted to look like a tough guy or posed a real threat to officers, there is no question that online remarks should be taken seriously in this regard. Many times, criminals have made their intentions publicly known on social media, but were disregarded. Everyone is responsible for what they say and shouldn’t assume nothing will be done about it.
