Using the grand jury decisions of Ferguson, Mo., and Staten Island, N.Y., as an excuse, protests and riots have broken out around the country in opposition to police brutality and perceived institutional racism.
One of the typical tactics of these protests is to conduct marches that disrupt and block traffic, sometimes surrounding and threatening drivers trapped in the swarming crowds. These protests also sometimes feature protestors staging a “die-in,” in which they lay in the street pretending to be victims of police violence.
But their highly disruptive protests that snarl traffic for hours have begun to annoy and anger the regular people who are just trying to go about their own business, and now one man has staged his own counter-protest, according to Q Political.
A local conservative talk radio host in Huntsville, Alabama, has now staged his own “die-in” protest. However, his protest is against the protestors, and he is showing his support for the police.
Dale Jackson said, “When I watched the Oakwood University protest, I thought to myself, ‘This is ridiculous. I can’t believe they shut down traffic for this.’”
“It’s the dumbest thing in the world. It’s really dumb.”
So he put together his own one-man protest, and actually received support from the police for his stunt mocking the protestors.
“I figured they’d (the police) tell me, ‘Absolutely not. What’s wrong with you?’ But they didn’t and I ended up walking down the street with seven cop cars.”
“I was definitely wanting to support the police, that was part of the point,” he continued. “But the biggest point is that there is a right way to protest and a wrong way to protest. Lying down in the middle of the road is the wrong way and shame on the politicians who are afraid to stand up and tell them ‘no.’”
Way to go, Dale Jackson. His singular protest demonstrates the absurdity and ridiculousness of the anti-police protests. Furthermore, he is absolutely correct that the protestors have been using one of the worst possible tactics, if they hope to gain the support of the broader community.
Traffic is awful as is. Nobody wants or needs a bunch of useful idiots protesting and blocking traffic, making things much worse.
