A Vogue cover model who was found deceased in her college dorm room was thought to have committed suicide. Raudha Athif, 21, was a second-year student of Islami Bank Medical College in the Rajshahi city of Bangladesh. The stunning Muslim model graced covers of magazines one moment but was found lifeless the next. It was reported as a suicide, but then more people began investigating.
Her brother insists that the death of his sister model was a cold blooded murder by Islamic extremists. The reason why? Because she did not allow herself to be oppressed by the Muslim religion. She did not wear the typical Islamic clothes such as the burka. Why would any Muslim woman want to wear those horrible clothes anyway?
Her father feels the same way. He believes her death was a murder covered up to look like a suicide. He’s gone public with his viewpoint on Twitter.
Via The Sun UK:
‘There have been a series of murders in Bangladesh which have been staged to look like suicides and Islamic extremists have been suspected to be behind these atrocities,’ he said.
‘Her style of clothing was branded as “immodest” and “un-Islamic” even though she adhered to the dress code in the college premises by wearing a veil covering her face.
‘But she was criticised for wearing jeans and was repeatedly told she couldn’t wear it at the Muslim college – which has a lot of extremist connections and support. Other students have also been subjected to this type of bullying.’
So what’s the truth? Is this crime a murder designed to look like a suicide? Did the Muslim model have any reason to commit suicide? If her college has lots of extremists and she refused to dress like a typical Muslim woman and wear those clothes that speak volumes of oppression, then perhaps she was targeted. If she wasn’t going to go along with the whole Muslim thing, then why did she attend a Muslim college? She should’ve left if she knew there was a potential conflict with her beliefs and those of the possibly extremist college.
I always wonder why Muslim women dress in full garbs that look like sheets or curtains and cover everything but their eyes. Are they forced to wear it? Who would willingly dress like that? It doesn’t look comfortable or free. How can that be comfortable in the summer when the sun beats on the black clothes.
Are Muslim women scared to ditch the burka? If the model ditched the Muslim clothes, then is this what happens when those women defy Islam?
