Melania Trump just did something awesome in the White House today. Let’s preface her doing by asking you about something that happened before Hillary lost the election to Trump.
Do you remember the time Hillary Clinton spoke of equality and then someone pointed out that she was wearing a potato sack shirt that cost anywhere from $12,000 to $14,000? I do. That lovely sack to suit a wombat was worth more than my old Kia Optima. I could’ve driven to work in a jalopy or I could’ve dressed like one.
Regardless of what you thought about Clinton’s ensemble during her time as the First Lady, or her time running for President, you’re about to forget all those horrible outfits when you scroll down and see what Melania Trump wore to the White House for a fraction of the cost. Sure, her get-up probably cost more than Donald’s spray tan, but the message she brought with her outfit speaks volumes about the core values and strength of America.
First Lady Melania Trump may be known for choosing simple yet elegant designer frocks, but on Thursday she opted for a more daring olive green ensemble for her latest meet and greet at the White House.
The 47-year-old wife of President Donald Trump donned a military-inspired jacket and matching skirt from the Altuzarra Spring 2017 runway collection as she and her husband met with Argentine President Mauricio Macri and his wife Juliana Awada in Washington, D.C.
Do you hear that? Military inspired outfit while we’re casually having a tweet and missile test battle with North Korea. She definitely wore this on purpose as a subtle sign of thanks to our soldiers ready to battle for our country. She might speak five languages and be an import, but she’s already showing more gratitude for our Americans than many people on the left. I’m sure she can afford a $12,000 version of this outfit to match Hillary’s expensive shirt spending sprees, but she somehow got a bargain for her $4k outfit. I would still rather have the jalopy than spend that money on clothes. I guess my blue collar background shines through when I’d rather spend money on a beater than an outfit.
The designer’s ‘Feday’ gabardine military jacket with python-print piping costs a whopping $2,995, while the matching skirt featuring asymmetrical buttons added another $1,120 to the price of the $4,115 ensemble.
According to Net-a-Porter, the python piping on the khaki green ensemble was actually inspired by a jacket worn by actor Nicholas Cage in the David Lynch film Wild at Heart.
Nicholas Cage? You’re starting to lose me on that one. This guy is a walking meme in some of the most average movies ever made. Should I be excited to hear Melania is dressed like a stunt double of Nicholas Cage, or should I just be happy she’s supporting the men and women who give us the freedom to say things like that?
I’d like to see what she looks like in an outfit inspired by Keanu Reeves in the Matrix. Or how about something from Mad Max or the Dark Knight? Wrap it up with an outfit inspired by the Greek women in the movie 300 and we have ourselves a winner.
While I think all this talk about fashion is absolutely the most boring thing on the planet, almost like counting fraudulent votes from the DNC, but at least it’s a reminder that our First Lady is a troop supporter and loves our country. It’s also a great way to remember that Hillary lost. I know that’s old news, but sometimes you just have to remind the college kids in Berkeley about things like this. They seem to have gone off the deep end and still don’t understand how an election works.
Melania accessorized her edgy out fit with a pair of python Manolo Blahnik BB pumps – which retail for around $595 per pair – to match the piping on her jacket and skirt.
Although she switched up of [sic] her style for her latest meeting, she struck to her trademark hairstyle, wearing her caramel-colored hair in loose waves around her shoulders.
Meanwhile, the First Lady of Argentina stunned in a fire-engine red pencil dress featuring a peplum design at her hips.
