Michelle Obama’s hush-hush Aspen trip outed

Most people know the feeling of driving along when suddenly traffic slows to a crawl and you get stuck behind an accident, sometimes for hours.

But most people are not Michelle Obama.

The first lady and her daughters were on a ski vacation in Aspen, Col., taking a break from her rigorous schedule of whatever it is she does, when her motorcade came upon a two car accident, according to the Aspen Daily News.

While the Obamas have made regular trips to Aspen — this is the fourth straight year — details about this year’s jaunt have been kept under wraps.

Officials have even declined to say where the family was staying. In years past, they have been guests of Jim and Paula Crown, who own Aspen Skiing Co., the Daily News reported.

Fortunately, the that didn’t keep the first family from the slopes as, according to Police Chief Brian Olson they were able to let the motorcade “sneak through while they waited on tow trucks.”

One of the drivers was from South Africa and apparently veered into oncoming traffic causing a head on collision at 30 miles per hour which caused the road to close for approximately 40 minutes, according to Olson.

Fortunately both drivers walked away from the crash with no injuries “rather miraculously,” Olson told the Daily News.

Pitkin County Sheriff’s deputy Jesse Steindler the remainder of the trip was uneventful for the first family as they skied Saturday.

“It was very easy duty,” Steindler said.

And I think everyone can breathe a sigh of relief knowing that her royal highness didn’t have to wait behind a traffic accident like other commoners.

Some Instagrammers even caught pictures of the Obamas arriving in Aspen.
