via DailyMail: Police have arrested a fast-food worker who they say was suffering from herpes and spat on an officer’s burger at a Louisiana Dairy Queen.
Elijah Johnson, 21, has been booked on counts including mingling harmful substances, Baton Rouge Police Department spokesman Cpl. Don Coppola told The Advocate.
Coppola said a store surveillance video showed that Johnson grabbed a bun, walked off to the side and brought the burger up to his mouth before walking back to finish making the burger.
He also said that Johnson later admitted he suffers from several diseases including herpes.
On Sunday afternoon, a lieutenant had gone to a Dairy Queen in Baton Rouge and ordered a burger when he noticed, before eating, what looked like spit on the top of it, Coppola said.
‘The lieutenant stuck his finger into the substance attempting to determine what it was and verified the substance resembled saliva,’ a police report said.
The officer then complained to a store manager, according to The Advocate.
Coppola said that when Johnson was questioned, he initially denied spitting on the burger and also provided police with a false name and date of birth before later admitting he suffers from herpes.
Following the incident, Coppola said the saliva is being tested to see if it matches Johnson.
Johnson reportedly has an outstanding warrant with the Baton Rouge Constable’s Office.
Online jail records do not list an attorney for Johnson.
