(Daily Caller) Attendees at an anti-police protest in Wisconsin funded heavily by the National Education Association — America’s largest teachers union — unfurled a banner declaring “ALL COPS ARE BASTARDS.”
The Wednesday event was organized by Wisconsin Jobs Now, reports EAGnews.org.
Despite the name “Wisconsin Jobs Now,” the small, radical group has spent considerable time and energy in recent months protesting police tactics.
Wisconsin Jobs Now has long targeted the Milwaukee police department. It has now branched some 80 miles west to Madison.
The National Education Association is a major financial donor for Wisconsin Jobs Now. The teachers union — the largest in the United States — gave $125,000 to Wisconsin Jobs Now in 2014 alone.
The other major contributor to the radical group is the Service Employees International Union.
However, the generous $125,000 contribution from the NEA is the only income or revenue Wisconsin Jobs Now reported in 2014, according to a Department of Labor report.
The Wednesday protest occurred a few days after a Madison police officer shot and killed Tony Robinson, 19. Police say Robinson assaulted the officer. He also pleaded guilty to armed robbery just last year.
The video below by Media Trackers shows participants who showed up at the Wisconsin Jobs Now-organized protest chanting “Hey-hey, ho-ho, these racist cops have got to go” as they marched with the “ALL COPS ARE BASTARDS” sign.
“This is not just a rally,” rally leader Jennifer Epps-Addison of Wisconsin Jobs Now promised the assembled crowd. “We are taking direct and corrective action.”
Lisa Lucas, communications director for Wisconsin Jobs Now, told The Daily Caller in an email that the labor group which now focuses on anti-police rallies does not condone the sign.
“None of our members brought it to the event. It was, in fact, brought by individuals unaffiliated with us, and those individuals were asked to remove that sign from the action so that our message wouldn’t be compromised,” Lucas claimed. Read More
