Last week, TRN reported on the sudden and stunning Obama administration ban on bacon, pork chops, pork links, ham and all other pork products from all federal prisons — widely suspected to be on behalf of Muslim inmates.
The surprise decision sparked a firestorm of outrage from both pork producers and prisoner advocates, which only became louder after the Bureau of Prisons, part of Obama’s Justice Department, refused to release results of their alleged “survey,” in which they absurdly claimed inmates themselves asked for the ban.
No one believed that one. Who doesn’t love bacon? It was assumed to be yet another unilateral Obama move in support of the Islam he constantly praises.
Well once word got out (1.2 million read our article alone), the blowback came fast and brutal. The Administration was deluged by calls from angry citizens and their representatives, and one of the most powerful Senate Republicans made public a letter questioning the bogus “survey” and demanding more details on the Sharia ban on pork for over 200,000 inmates:
Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) sent a letter Thursday to Federal Bureau of Prisons Director Charles Samuels questioning the transparency surrounding the decision and how much taxpayer money was used to conduct this survey in the first place. Hours later, the decision was reversed.
“The decision by the Bureau of Prisons to completely remove pork from its menus was ham-handed at best,” Grassley said in a statement Friday. “I appreciate the quick decision after my letter to the bureau to keep pork products on prison menus.”
Loved the pun, Senator. Grassley is now looking into why the decision was made in the first place.
“None of that’s been answered, and it ought to be,” Grassley said in a statement. “I look forward to receiving a response to my letter.”
Well the “response” was just as stunning as the ban itself: Obama has now reversed the ban on pig products. No word on the phony prison poll on pork, however. So much for “transparency.”
The pork industry made an important point:
“We find it hard to believe that a survey would have found a majority of any population saying, ‘No thanks, I don’t want any bacon,’” a representative for The National Pork Producers Council told Fox News.
There is only one “population” that doesn’t like bacon, and never stops trying to impose its own rules upon the rest of us: Muslims. That it why the terror-linked Islamic pressure group CAIR praised the ban last week.
Well played, America. This incident shows why citizens must always remain vigilant against Muslims — and their ally in the White House — when they try to enforce Sharia in the schools or public life.
