(Conservative Tribune) On Thursday, tragedy struck America when 10 students were gunned down by a sociopath who had nothing but evil in his heart.
The bodies weren’t even cold yet when President Barack Obama was calling for increased gun control nationwide. Obama even praised Australia’s strict gun laws as a model the United States could follow.
Less than 24 hours after he stated that, Sky News reported on a shooting in Australia that led to the death of a police employee and the gunman.
How’s that gun control working?
“There’s no way you can describe the feeling you have … this man was simply leaving work this afternoon, he was gunned down,” said NSW Police Commissioner Andrew Scipione. “He was murdered on this very street, it’s a terrible feeling.”
Police are not commenting on what the motive for this attack might have been, but police had been ordered to wear their guns at all times this week in response to chatter about a possible attack.
Luckily, the criminal targeted an IT worker near a police headquarters building, where armed officers were able to respond quickly. Had he targeted a school, church or movie theater, the results could easily have been even more horrific.
Australia is not new to this sort of violence. Last year, during the infamous “Sydney Siege,” a terrorist with a shotgun took hostages, in part because no armed citizens could stop him. Three people died as a result of that incident.
No matter what country you are in, and no matter how tough the gun laws are, people will always find a way to get their hands on a firearm and commit murder. And if they can’t, they’ll commit murder with knives, stones or their bare hands.
Extreme gun laws only harm a population. If no one has a gun but the gunman, no one can fight back, and no one can stop the gunman from killing people.
