There a tragedy on Baton Rouge, Louisiana, as they face the worst flooding the state has ever seen – some comparing it to the worst since Hurricane Katrina struck. But chances are, you haven’t heard much about it, which is why many are complaining that the national news media isn’t doing enough to put the spotlight on the crisis there.
While the entire media has been focused on the Rio Olympics for nearly two weeks, as well as the ongoing presidential race, at least 40,000 homes have been damaged by the floods since Friday, and at least thirteen people have been killed.
President Barack Obama signed a disaster declaration, Sunday, ordering federal aid be given to supplement state and local recovery efforts. But, some say that still isn’t enough. He’s being criticized for not stopping his summer vacation to directly address the tragedy.
As what’s his excuse? As the Young Cons report, it’s pretty ridiculous.
Despite all that, you aren’t going to believe what DHS Secretary Jeh Johnson just said about why Obama isn’t in Baton Rouge.

It’s a blatant lie.
The president is on vacation and has been all week.
He’s been staying out late, golfing, and carrying on.
Here are some of the responses from Twitter.
@charliespiering I believe the gentleman signing is saying “Can you believe this idiot can say this BS with a straight face?”.

And his vacation isn’t stopping anytime soon. While George W. Bush was regularly pilloried by his political opponents for extended vacations at his ranch in Texas, Obama gets a free pass. By the end of 2015, his vacation costs exceeding $70 million.
Do you have any idea how much disaster relief $70 million could provide to Louisiana?
