From Mad World: Following the deadly shooting at a community college in Oregon, Barack Obama took to his podium, as police were still counting the bodies of the deceased, in order to basically wage war on our Second Amendment rights. His speech lacked specifics, but a recent announcement from the White House about his plans should have gun owners terrified.
On Monday, White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest spoke during a press conference and confirmed that Obama is working behind the scenes to do “something” about gun violence, reported Breitbart.
“It’s a high priority and will continue to be until we start to see more progress on this issue in this town,” said Earnest, who added he wouldn’t “quibble” with those critical of Obama for not getting into specifics during his impassioned rant. Earnest also said that Obama is pursuing every option he has as far as executive actions are concerned.
“I can tell you that they’re not stumped, they’re continuing to review the law that’s on the books and continuing to consult with legal authorities but also others who may have ideas about what steps that can be taken to keep guns out of the hands of criminals,” continued Earnest.
The secretary declined to speak to any specifics about what exactly Obama has planned, but he called the process a “scrub” that he said would be “ongoing.” He also embraced Hillary Clinton’s ideas for stricter regulations but admitted to not actually reading through all the details before he criticized the so-called “gun show loophole” and blaming the NRA for blocking Congress from infringing on our constitutionally protected rights.
Last week’s shooting at the school took nine innocent lives for absolutely no reason, so it’s understandable that people are upset over the issue. However, if our main goal is to protect the lives of students, then why isn’t the elephant in the room being addressed?
What elephant am I speaking of? The staggering number of alcohol and drug-related deaths on school campuses every year. According to the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, 1,825 college students between the ages of 18 and 24 die annually from alcohol related causes, yet I’m sure that’s the first time you’ve heard that number, isn’t it?
The reason I bring that number up is to show that this isn’t about keeping students safe, saving lives, preventing violence, or anything of the like – it’s about disarming our nation. During his rant, Obama mentioned Australia and Great Britain as examples we should follow, but there’s just one issue – guns are basically banned in those places, so is that what he’s pushing for?
Just remember, this is the same man who told us that if we like our healthcare provider, we could keep them. How well did that work out? Now, he’s telling us we can keep our guns and this isn’t about disarming the nation. Are we going to be stupid enough to believe him again? I’m not.
