Imaging living on a military post, having a baby, breastfeeding the child, and being told by some jackwagon that you need to cover up. You know, because feeding an infant isn’t important. I suppose the child can starve for a few moments and uncontrollably cry while the man who can’t stand the sight of nature at work. Then imagine having to inform the uneducated jerk that the law permits women to breastfeed as needed and using the police as your personal message delivery service. Sounds crazy, right?
It may sound crazy, but it’s true. This is basically what happened to Avery Lane. She was feeding her little nugget some bosom juice while her friend was being serviced by an H & R employee. The man, who I suppose worked there, became a bit mouthy with the woman and asked her to cover up “or something.” Lane, who LIVES on the military post threw a sharp-tongued quick-wit dagger straight back and asked him to cover up his face.
That’s when it went to the next level. Military police were called to the scene to inform the man that the woman has every legal right to breastfeed her child in the state of Georgia whether he likes it or not!
Lane was living on a military post and was visiting a local H&R Block location with a friend when the incident occurred. She posted about what happened on her Facebook page, saying, “So I was breastfeeding my 2 month old at a H&R Block on a military post when the manager asked me “Can you cover up with a towel or something?” Lane writes. “I was completely shocked so I raised my voice slightly and said ‘No but I have a muslin if you would like to cover your face. You must not know Georgia’s breastfeeding laws.’”
I might consider asking a woman to cover up if her other breast is out and dangling halfway to the floor. No offense, but that should be covered up. But if it’s just a mother breastfeeding her child and it’s mostly covered up anyway, then what’s the big deal? Leave the lady alone. She just had her insides pulled apart one way or another, the least she can do is feed her kid without some moron bothering her.
he asked Lane to leave the premises since he was helping her friend, not her. So Lane decided it was time to teach this guy a lesson. “I then called the Military Police so they could come and inform him of them,” Lane writes on her Facebook page. “I’m glad they came and informed him that he could not tell me to leave. Also one of the MPs told me that there is nothing wrong with a mother breastfeeding her child.”
This guy is a complete Richard. How about you stop staring at her while she’s feeding. You can see all that in the weird part of YouTube. Stop looking at it if you don’t want to see it. I wonder how this guy was fed. I hope he was breastfeed by a topless hippy mother in the middle of a Woolworth’s five and dime shop. How would he feel if his wife was breastfeeding his kid and she was asked to leave? Does he have a wife? If not, then I surely know why.
Lane has received overwhelming support on her page since the incident and also quite a few questions. She decided to post a follow up interview on YouTube to answer a few of them. Lane says she’s been asked repeatedly whether this manager should be fired. “No, I don’t want anyone to be fired from their job, their source of income,” Lane says in the video. She explains the situation warranted him to be educated and now that he has been, she feels it is over.
I’m glad she’s received support. She’s a good lady. She didn’t fist fight the guy, but she surely made her message heard loud and clear. She could’ve taken her earrings off to throw some fists or maybe a shoe, but she was mature, calm, and collective. She let the police do her dirty work and there isn’t a darn thing that man can say.
Whether you’re breastfeeding or bottle feeding, these babies have an appetite that comes with a high demand. Would the man prefer a screaming baby or a quiet one who’s eating?
I’ll take the quietly fed baby over the agonizing screamer any day of the week.
