From The Conservative Tribune: The U.S. military along with a coalition of Arab Gulf states and allies like Jordan and the United Arab Emirates have been launching airstrikes against the Islamic State group in Iraq and Syria.
Despite these airstrikes, the Islamic State group continues to recruit fighters and gain ground, expanding their so-called caliphate in terms of both numbers and territory.
Now the U.S. military has added a new weapon to the arsenal being used against the radical jihadists, but this weapon attacks the Islamic State fighters psychologically, instead of physically.
A spokesman for the Pentagon revealed that the military is dropping tens of thousands of pamphlets in and around the city of Raqqa in Syria, the nominal capitol of the so-called Islamic State.
The gruesome pamphlets depict Islamic State fighters running their recruits through a meat grinder, a common symbol of the harshness of war that fighters and soldiers have seen at least since the first World War.
According to the Washington Times, Pentagon spokesman Col. Steve Warren said, “The message of this leaflet is if you allow yourself to be recruited by Daesh, you will find yourself in a meat grinder,” he said. “Not beneficial to your health.”
The picture shows two monstrous looking Islamic State group fighters standing under a sign that reads “Daesh Recruiting Office,” using the Arabic term for the Islamic State group that they absolutely hate.
The recruiters are seen encouraging potential jihadists to take a number and get in line, but the line leads to a giant meat grinder, into which the recruits are being fed.
This is great, as it shows potential recruits that joining the Islamic State group will not bring them glory, but instead lead to a gory death.
Still, it remains to be seen just how effective this anti-ISIS propaganda will be among a group of people who too often glorify death and seem all to willing to jump right into the meat grinder.
