Yet again proving it doesn’t take brains to be a criminal, two thugs decided the ideal place to rob would be a gun store. Needless to say, as if it wasn’t foreseeable enough, the duo learned the hard way to think before they act, as they later found themselves on the receiving end of a .38 revolver in the hands of an armed granny.
The incident took place at a Springdale, Arkansas store called C & S Gun and Pawn Shop, where Marcus Gould, 25, and Leon Roberson, 20, walked into the shop with their hoods up. Seemingly inconspicuous in the beginning, things became a bit chaotic after the two brandished a pair of firearms.
According to Lt. Derek Hudson of the Springdale Police Department, “They split up, they both pulled out hand guns that looked like black semi-automatic pistols and began to rob the store.” Unfortunately for them, they didn’t seem to expect the shop owner, 74-year-old Shirley Cornett, to be armed and carrying, despite the merchandise which she sold.
Hudson later stated, “One of the employees also pulled out a weapon and there were shots exchanged.”
According to Western Journalism:
Twenty-year-old Leon Roberson drove Gould to a Fort Smith hospital where the latter was ultimately arrested. Fort Smith Police Sgt. Daniel Grubbs confirmed that Gould checked in under a false name and claimed he was shot in Little Rock.
Police investigated his claims and determined he was lying. They called surrounding communities and learned of the armed robbery that had just occurred in Springdale.
Police later executed a search warrant on the car Gould arrived in, where they found Roberson who attempted to flee on foot. He was easily detained and arrested.
5 News has since reported that the Roberson and Gould “face charges of Attempted Capital Murder and Aggravated Robbery, according to police. Roberson was booked into the Washington County Detention Center at 1:55 a.m.” and was “set to appear in court for an 8.1 Hearing on Monday (Dec. 7th), according to the detention center’s website.”
Although these two won’t be out to see the light of day without being in a cage for quite some time, do you think they’ve learned their lesson? Let us know in the comments.
