From BizPac: A South Carolina classroom has sparked the next wave of police criticism as a white male officer tried to remove a belligerent black female student from her desk on Monday.

Camera phone videos taken by other students show school resource officer Ben Fields using brute force to drag the teen from her chair after the desk toppled to the ground with her in it.

When initial videos hit the national news on Tuesday they sparked a fiery debate.

Richard County Sheriff Leon Lott released a statement on Facebook later in the day and he spoke with media outlets, including CNN’s Jake Tapper, about the investigation.

“His actions after he put his hands on her disturb me,” Lott said about the officer. But he added that there is a third video taken from a different angle that shows the girl “striking and punching at the officer.”

Eyewitnesses allegedly support the claim. The following is from a student who claimed to be in the class:

But Democrat politicians don’t care much about facts. They have already determined the problem and are happy to lend a condescending sound bite to the situation.

And, just to add more speculation, the so-called-news network MSNBC wants you to to be aware that the officer has a black girlfriend, according to the Sheriff.

I guess the only thing left to do is wait for President Obama to tell the nation how “stupidly” Officer Fields acted. 3 . . . 2 . . . 1 . . .

Richland County Sheriff’s Department Facebook statement on Tuesday:

I have spoken with the FBI and U.S. Attorney William Nettles today as I travel back from Chicago. Their investigation has begun.

I have also consulted with Solicitor Dan Johnson and he agrees that the criminal investigation will be best served with the FBI as the lead agency. We do not want any issues with the community or those involved having questions concerning conflicts of interest in this investigation. SLED has been requested by the school board of Richland 2 and individual legislators to also look into the matter. Solicitor Johnson and I have no issues with SLED assisting the FBI and U.S. Attorney. A complete and thorough investigation is what we both want, as well as the public.
