Excerpted From Mad World News: America is composed of several different nationalities that collectively represent the greatest nation in the world. However, new talks are being raised after a Michigan Department of Social Services has obliged a new demographic by offering to communicate with them in Arabic.
We’ve all heard, “Presione 2 para español” (press 2 for Spanish) when calling in to automated telephone services. Most recently, however, a Michigan Social Services line has added a third option for those that speak Arabic.
According to Clash Daily:
So now in Michigan when you call the Public Assistance office you are told to “Press 1 for English. Press 2 for Spanish, or Press 3 for Arabic”! CHECK IT OUT YOURSELF – Here is the number: 1-888-678-8914.
Furthermore, the website for government assistance also offers applications in Arabic as well.
Everyone in America, so long as they’re legally allowed, is entitled to apply for government assistance. After all, that’s what it’s there for. The question is, should the Arabic demographic – Muslims – be provided an option to better communicate and apply for taxpayer-funded help?
America was a nation founded on the English language, and although not everyone on the planet speaks it, many think that those living in America should speak it — so much so, a basic understanding of English is a requirement for legal citizenship. As if there wasn’t enough outrage over “press 2 for Spanish,” this has created its own fair share of controversy.
