Daniel Rosen, who lists his occupation on LinkedIn as Director, Counterterrorism Programs and Policy at U.S. Department of State, has been arrested for soliciting a minor during an online conversation.
Rosen was arrested at his Washington DC home last night after he solicited what he thought was a young girl online. The person he was chatting with was actually a detective with the local Child Exploitation Unit.
Rosen has been suspended from his position and his security clearance has been pulled while the investigation takes place.
State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki said in a statement that she was aware of the case, but did not confirm Rosen’s identity.
“We are aware that a State Department employee has been arrested and charges have been issued.
“For issues related to Department personnel and for privacy reasons, we are not able to confirm the identity of the individual or specific charges.
“His security clearance will be suspended and he will be put on administrative leave while this proceeds to its end through any judicial process. We are following standard procedure in this case.”
This represents another blow for Obama and Kerry’s State Department which took flak last week after deputy spokeswoman Marie Harf basically said we could reduce the threat presented by ISIS by finding the jihadists jobs.
