One Day After Syria Strike Trey Gowdy Says What No One Else Dares To Say!

Congressman Trey Gowdy has proven himself to be a formidable opponent on Capitol Hill. He famously chaired the select House committee that investigated the terrorist attacks on an American embassy in Benghazi, Libya. Now he is dipping his feet into the pool of conversation when it comes to the recent chemical attack against Syrian citizens.

On Friday the Congressman said that the President’s decision to send off over fifty Tomahawk missiles to a Syrian military base shows that we have boundaries and our patience has worn thin. We will no longer stand by silently. He was referencing missiles that were launched from American ships in the Mediterranean Sea. Gowdy said,

If you hurt children with chemical weapons, there’s going to be a response. Assad said he had no more chemical weapons and he lied. He’s a terrible human being. I’ll let the commander and chief decide how to handle Assad. There has to be a price to pay for that. If he [Assad] doesn’t get the message, do it again.”

Gowdy vociferously defended the President and his decision to attack Syria. The Congressman maintained there was legal and moral justification for doing so. Over one hundred people were killed in the chemical attack. Most of them were young children. The world was rocked when videos and photographs circulated the internet of young babies foaming at the mouth and gasping for breath and air.

Most casualties were children. Assad blamed it on a chemical facility leak. But the real culprit is the Assad regime which has systemically murdered and exterminated their own people. Russia and Iran have loyally stood by Assad’s side. Even during this time. President Trump, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, and United States ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley have all taken a strong stance against this travesty.

Gowdy is right. The President is within his power to call for missile strikes. And he did. As a result, he has the full support of most Republicans and Democrats. This is a bipartisan issue and Congressman Gowdy understands that. Hopefully, this means that Gowdy will spearhead congressional support to take action against Syria. He certainly has fellow public servants who have publically stated they would do so.
