Texans Horrified When Back Door Of Ice Cream Truck Flings Open And They See What Come Out

A viral video was put on social media and YouTube that originated from the Facebook page of HTown Happy Hour. The video lasts for 46 seconds and depicts employees unloading dead animals from what appears to be the back of an ice cream truck. Which begs the question, what is really in our food?

In the video, a man and woman are heard in the back saying that a dead dog carcass was one of the bodies being unloaded. Two Muslims cut the head of the dog off so it could be passed off as a deer. It was done in front of the Al Ameen Halal Meat Market near the corner of Holly Hall Street and one called Almeda Road.

A man named Alim Abdurahman is the proprietor of the business. He allegedly learned more about what happened when the video went viral and he received enraged calls from people. He said,

Not only wish, I want him to take it down or I want him to come personally and see for himself and apologize to the people he really hurt. It really hurt. We spent a lot of money and a lot of time to build this business.”

The owner was very upset by the video saying that putting it online was irresponsible and wrong arguing the video was taken out of context. He maintained that the animals were lambs and goats but nothing else. They were reportedly being used for halal meat which is used specifically by Muslim people for their diet. The owner was upset that the video creator misrepresented what the animals were.

Halal meat is defined as the following,

Halal is Arabic for permissible. Halal food is that which adheres to Islamic law, as defined in the Koran. The Islamic form of slaughtering animals or poultry, dhabiha, involves killing through a cut to the jugular vein, carotid artery and windpipe. Animals must be alive and healthy at the time of slaughter and all blood is drained from the carcass. During the process, a Muslim will recite a dedication, know as tasmiya or shahada. There is debate about elements of halal, such as whether stunning is allowed.

Stunning cannot be used to kill an animal, according to the Halal Food Authority (HFA), a non-profit organisation that monitors adherence to halal principles. But it can be used if the animal survives and is then killed by halal methods, the HFA adds. The RSPCA says slaughter without pre-stunning causes “unnecessary suffering.

UK Food Standards Agency figures from 2011 suggest 84% of cattle, 81% of sheep and 88% of chickens slaughtered for halal meat were stunned before they died.
Supermarkets selling halal products say they stun all animals before they are slaughtered. Tesco says the only difference between the halal meat it sells and other meat is that it was blessed as it was killed.”

Daily Headlines reported the following about the ordeal,

His employees transported them in a freezer truck before moving them into the store’s walk-in freezer. Abdurahman invited ABC13 to look at the carcasses for ourselves. He said he recently purchased the freezer truck from an ice cream wholesaler. He hadn’t taken their graphics off the vehicle.

According to ABC13, the Houston Health Department sent an inspector to the store following 2 complaints they received this morning. The meat passed inspection. The poster and his attorney reached out to Eyewitness News this evening. They said he had no intention to harm the business. He shared the video on social media because he said he was concerned over sanitary issues. He has not made a decision about whether he will remove the video. He wants to talk to the meat market owner first.”

The business owner also was upset about the following,

My business is suffering. This is really going to affect us badly in the long term. People are taking this seriously. He needs to bring it (the video) down.”

Killing certain types of animals for food is fine but killing them unethically or selling them on a black market is never acceptable. Especially if this business is killing what appears to be dogs. There are guidelines and laws that need to be followed and ignoring them in the United States is unacceptable. It can be highly unsanitary but also incredibly unethical if they are mistreating these animals and abusing them. No business does business like this in a developed world.
