In a rural town in Claude, TX with a population 1,200 there are some new signs that call attention to the fact that some of the school district’s staff is “armed and may use whatever force necessary” to protect its students, according to media reports.
This school district has allowed its employees carry since November 2015, now signs have gone up at the district’s elementary and junior/senior high school to warn any potential perpetrators. The district has 40 teachers with a total of 68 employees and 354 students.
THIS community has taken down the Gun Free Zone signs and replaced them with School Safe Campus signs as a GIANT warning in front of the schools intending to give the community of Claude a safer school environment. The community believes that THIS will effectively deter potential shooters from their schools. It took some work with the School Board and community to make it happen to allow conceal carry on campus, all school buildings in the district have been adorned with signs bearing a bold red statement that says:
“ATTENTION: PLEASE BE AWARE THAT THE STAFF AT CLAUDE IS IS ARMED AND MAY USE WHATEVER FORCE NECESSARY TO PROTECT OUR STUDENTS.”
Would you want your child to be in one of these classrooms?
