That’s it! There’s a Starbucks two blocks from me. I’m going use the woman’s bathroom there, everyday, wear a Charles Manson t-shirt, let my hair & beard grow out, and not shower for days. I’ll tell them I’m a tranny. Let’s see how long it is before I get kicked out. If they say anything, I’ll tell them they’re discriminating against me & that I’m going to sue. Lol. This is gonna be great! 😀
A lot of people have been upset about Target’s decision to let customers use whatever bathroom they feel like.
In fact, over 800,000 people have signed a petition to boycott the store.
But there are other companies across the country that are prepared to do the same thing and some have already started.
One of those companies is Starbucks.
From USA Today:
Starbucks, Hudson’s Bay Co. — parent company to Lord & Taylor and Saks Fifth Avenue — and Barnes & Noble all told USA TODAY that employees and customers in their stores are welcome to use the bathroom of the gender they identify with.
Starbucks spokeswoman Jaime Riley said the company is “looking into additional opportunities to have more gender-neutral signage in our restrooms where jurisdictions allow it.”
“HBC respects and affirms each person’s right to self-identify and access facilities that reflect their gender identity,” spokeswoman Tiffany Bourré said.
“As a company, Barnes & Noble treats all employees and customers with dignity and respect,” spokeswoman Mary Ellen Keating said. “For our transgender employees and customers, that means that they are allowed to use the bathroom of the gender they identify with.”
Looks like Target is going to be the tip of the iceberg in this bathroom debate.
It is very strange how many large companies are willing to completely ignore the safety of their customers just to pander to less than 1% of the population.
Starbucks is no stranger to controversy and it will be interesting to see if this decision hurts their business or if another boycott petition will start to spread.
