I really LOVE Waffle House, my friends in the south think I’m crazy. Maybe it’s because I don’t live in a place where they exist. With that said, I remember the first time my friend Rusty took me to one. I was headed to the airport at 4am and he volunteered to take me to Waffle House beforehand. I thought he was crazy but after he told me to order the hash browns ‘kitchen sink’ style and pecan waffles… I was in love! Since then I have settled for the ‘All-American’, boy am I hungry!
In case you didn’t know, your trusty local Waffle House will provide you with all kinds of greasy delights 24 hours a day. So, in this case 3 really dumb thugs thought they would head on over to a Waffle House in Newnan, GA. with a note demanding money. The problem for these thugs were just beginning…
Heather Stanly, the waitress, quickly went outside to grab a gun from her car. She fired a warning shot into the air and that was ALL those coward crooks needed to run to their cars and drive away.
The waitress admitted that, “I didn’t know if they had guns. I didn’t know if they were going to their vehicle to get another one and could come back and try to get to the safe, so my instinct was to go to my car and get the gun.”
Despite Heather’s bravery in chasing those thugs away leaving everyone unharmed, she was fired.“For trying to protect their Waffle House and trying to protect their money and to get their money back, they let me go,” she explained. “I know what I did. To myself I felt it was right and wouldn’t hesitate, I would do it again.”
So far, Waffle House has not made a statement regarding the incident. Heather is trying to find another job and a GoFundMe page has been set up to help her financially during the transition.
