Tom Hanks Tells His Hollywood Pals to Put on Their Big Boy Pants And Why He’ll Be Voting for Trump’s Re-Election

Most of Hollywood is considered pretty progressive and liberal. After all, they take every chance they get to endorse Democratic candidates. But one A list celebrity is breaking from the pact. That is Tom Hanks. Who said he hopes that Donald Trump does so well he votes for his re-election.

Hanks opinion a more tempered tone compared to other celebrities such as America Ferrera and Miley Cyrus who posted social media pictures of themselves crying at the prospect of a Trump presidency. This past Wednesday the famous actor was honored by the New York’s Museum of Modern Art. In his acceptance speech he offered a pep talk for those saddened by the election results.

He said,

“We are going to be all right because we constantly get to tell the world who we are. We constantly get to define ourselves as American. We do have the greatest country in the world. We move at a slow pace. We have the greatest country in the world because we are always moving towards a more perfect union. That journey never ceases, it never stops.

Sometimes, to quote a Springsteen song, it’s “one step forward, two steps back,” but we still aggregately move forward. We, who are a week into wondering what the hell just happened, will continue to move forward. We have to choose to do so, but we will move forward because if we do not move forward, what is to be said of us?”

Then he continued to say something that many of his A list colleagues likely would vociferously disagree with,

“This is the United States of America. We’ll go on. There’s great like-minded people out there who are Americans first and Republicans or Democrats second. I hope the president-elect does such a great job that I vote for his re-election in four years.”

He shot down the reports that Michael Moore said he should run for President in 2020. Calling on the fact that he said he was unqualified to do such a thing. Despite the fact that Donald Trump has just as much experience as he does that would make him qualified to run a country.
In response to Moore’s suggestions Hanks said,
“Not to be completely, over and over coming back to the same thing that I would like to strangle Michael Moore on him offering my name in order to be something other than a CPA, which I’m not qualified to be either. We will take everything that has been handed to us as Americans, and we will turn our nation and we will turn the future and we turn all the work that we have before us into some brand of a thing of beauty.”
Usually it is only actors such as Mel Gibson or Gary Sinise that you see saying things that could be remotely construed as conservative. While it is completly unlikely that Hanks is going conservative it is nice to see a calming tone come from a prominent member of a liberal community. It signals that he is will to be open to the idea of Trump’s presidency.
