Yesterday President Trump met with Chinese President Xi Jinping. It was his intention to establish a relationship now that there is a new administration in place. They were working to better the bilateral relations between our countries. People have been long awaiting to see what is going to happen between the two.
The President went out of his way to make China a forefront issue during his presidential campaign. He often criticized them for their trade, corruption, and monetary policy. After welcoming the President and his wife, Trump spoke to reporters before a press conference. He declared that relations between the two were outstanding.
Some of their discussion included North Korea’s nuclear program as well as trade issues. Our President understands we need to facilitate good relations with friends and foes. While he had strong statements about Chinese foreign and domestic policy during his campaign he wasn’t going to let that hinder future progress.
Unlike the former administration, the President showed how strong our country is and how much stronger it is compared to the previous administration. While President Obama bowed and knelt to foreign leaders and dignitaries President Trump shook their hands. Because after all, he understands the gravity of being the leader of the free world.
President Obama embarrassed us with this behavior but President Trump made us proud. We are the greatest country this world has ever seen and we need to act accordingly. Trump did just that.
Under the Obama administration, there was a staggering U.S.-Chinese trade deficit with deflation, currency manipulation, and tariff issues. As the businessman he is, there is no better person to handle this issue. The President’s meeting with the Chinese leader signifies he is willing to work together to rectify these issues as a strong leader on behalf of the United States.
