President Trump’s administration is fully functioning. With healthcare passed and immigration reform in full force, he is functioning at a high level at this point. His cabinet and administration employee picks have caused a little bit of controversy. Picks like Mike Pence, Steve Bannon, and Reince Priebus are some of those controversial choices. Which is why this latest announcement isn’t shocking.
President Trump is reportedly thinking of rebooting his staff. The reboot could take out Chief of Staff Reince Priebus, Press Secretary Sean Spicer and Chief Strategist Steve Bannon to White House Counsel Don McGahn. On Saturday he hinted that Press Secretary Sean Spicer might not keep his job.
It has been reported that the President has been confiding in longtime friends as well as outsiders of the administration for advice. He has been looking to get his presidency back on track. The rumor is he feels his aides aren’t doing a good job. However, the American public seems pretty pleased with the President and his achievements.
A Trump advisor told Axios the following,
“He’s frustrated, and angry at everyone. The advice he’s getting is to go big – that he has nothing to lose. The question now is how big and how bold. I’m not sure he knows the answer to that yet.”
The President will be going on his first overseas trip at the end of this week which makes this shake up an inopportune time to happen. It would place the administration in a tailspin with little leadership at a critical point in his presidency. It also gives him the option to go a more private route by not publically firing administration officials. Instead of firing them he could simply cut them out of the information chain. Which in effect makes them useless.
However, those who would remain in his inner circle would be son in law Jared Kushner and daughter Ivanka Trump. It is rumored he might bring Fox News personality Kimberly Guilfoyle onto his team. He has been able to maintain a cordial relationship even friendship with the network. Despite the intense backlash he receives from other networks.
An unidentified source said the following about the possible shakeup,
“He’s frustrated, and angry at everyone. The advice he’s getting is to go big — that he has nothing to lose. The question now is how big and how bold. I’m not sure he knows the answer to that yet.”
The recent firing of FBI Director James Comey could confirm these allegations as there were many reports that even people within the President’s inner circle didn’t know about his firing until they saw it on the television. Which indicates he is cutting them out of the information chain. He could already be cutting and phasing them out.
Rumors seem to also indicate that he is displeased with his administration’s performance in the communications department. In relation to how they dealt with the firing of James Comey as well as other instances where he felt they did not adequately defend him to the media. He tweeted out the following in retaliation for bad press he has gotten from the media who insinuates he lies to them,
“As a very active President with lots of things happening, it is not possible for my surrogates to stand at podium with perfect accuracy! Maybe the best thing to do would be to cancel all future ‘press briefings’ and hand out written responses for the sake of accuracy???”
The President made it clear on the campaign trail that what made him excellent and prosperous at what he does is his ability to bring out the best of people. His ability to surround himself with top talent with those who have the most potential. And then drawing out their greatest potential. If he feels he needs to replace those in his administration his judgment is one that should be taken seriously.
Considering the amazing things his administration has done so far, if he were to revamp his office and bring in even better people who knows what they would be capable of achieving. There is plenty of talent in Washington D.C. to fill up the White House three times over. The sky is the limit. Only time will tell if he ultimately decides to bring in new people.
