When President Obama took office he removed the bust of British Prime Minister Winston Churchill that was located in the Oval Office which was viewed by many as a slap in the face to Britain whose one of our closest allies.
Now that Donald Trump has been elected President it appears that the bust of Churchill will be returning as reported by the U.K. Express. Nigel Farage met with Donald Trump and is an ardent supporter of his. He was the interim leader of the United Kingdom Independence Party and he promoted the Brexit vote. He said,
“At the end of our time with Trump, we asked him if the bust of Sir Winston Churchill that Obama had removed from the Oval Office could be put back in its rightful place. He enthusiastically thought that was a good idea. Need I say more?”
Farage labelld Trump an anglophile who he viewed as someone seeking to improve the relations between the two countries. Relations over the past few years have declined under President Obama especially after his outspoken denouncement of Brexit.
In reference to the trade between America and Great Britain he said,
“We talked about the prospect of the United Kingdom being at the front of the queue, all of which was met positively.”
This was a clear dig at President Obama who said in April that the United Kingdom’s decision to leave the European Union would make them go to the back of the queue. This news is amazing for those who seek better relations with one of our longest and strongest allies. Especially for those seeking the days of Thatcher and Reagan and their compassionate conservatism.
The relationship between Great Britain and the United States has declined more recently as well as relations with numerous other countries. Especially those in the Middle East. It is no doubt correlated to the fact that President Obama places his progressive agenda above all else, including our foreign relationships with other countries.
