Barack Obama has alienated plenty of our allies during his tenure as president, and perhaps none more so than the United Kingdom. He seems to delight in insulting the nation that we have historically been closest to. One of his first insults was to remove the bust of Winston Churchill from the Oval Office. And Donald Trump has already announced that he wants the bust returned as soon as possible.
Obama’s decision to remove the bust of Churchill was more than just a decorating faux pas. It symbolized that Obama was turning away from the United Kingdom, our oldest trade partner and a stalwart ally in every war since World War II.
With Trump in office, the fractured relationship can hopefully be repaired. Already, British politicians are responding favorably.
Especially pleased at @realDonaldTrump‘s very positive reaction to idea that Sir Winston Churchill’s bust should be put back in Oval Office.
