Throughout this entire campaign, Donald Trump has proven his talent in trolling the media.
One classic case comes to mind from last month, after birther accusations against him resurged. In response, he held an event as his newly opened hotel in Washington DC.
The event was touted to be one where Trump would make a “major announcement” and take back his earlier claims that President Obama wasn’t born in this country, but what happened instead made the media realize they’d been played.
Ironically, one of the veterans who spoke at the event was Gen. Thomas McInerney — one of the leaders of the so-called “birther” campaign that set out to prove Obama was born outside of the United States and was thus ineligible to be president.
Due to Trump’s tardy arrival, cable news outlets spent nearly 90 minutes covering an empty podium and several generals remarking about how tough Trump is before he finally said what they wanted to hear: “Hillary Clinton and her campaign of 2008 started the birther controversy,” he said. “I finished it. President Obama was born in the United States. Period.”
So in other words, he managed to get an hour and a half of free coverage to showcase all the generals supporting him – then took the stage, said what everyone expected him to say, and left without taking questions. Hilarious.
Facing controversy again, this following leaked comments he made in 2005, Trump trolled the media right before the second Presidential debate. As the Gateway Pundit reported:
The reporters thought they were going to a pre-debate photo op with Donald Trump.
They walked in on Trump sitting with Clinton rape victims.
DONALD TRUMP APPEARS WITH CLINTON RAPE AND ABUSE VICTIMS BEFORE DEBATE!
Trump holds presser with Paula Jones, Kathy Shelton, Juanita Broaddrick & Kathleen Willey—
These women were abused by BILL AND HILLARY CLINTON!
Now EVERYONE is aware of these scandals.
Trump also told some of their stories at the debate – which resulted in no response from Hillary, and a stone-faced stare of shame from Bill. If the man ever made any admission of guilt, that was it, and 66 million people saw it.
