Man, this is long overdue. Trump has told Nigel Farage that when he becomes President, the bust of Winston Churchill will be moved back into the Oval Office where it belongs. As I understand it, when Barack Obama took office, he moved it out of there because he said it was too cluttered. It’s the height of disrespect and a disgrace. Obama did that because both him and his father hate Britain. That’s just a fact.
Moving the bust out of the Oval Office was a slap and an insult to the British. They are one of our closest allies and Obama severely impaired our relationship with them. Trump will mend that fence and more. Farage hopes to be the ambassador between Britain and the US. It would be a good choice. We’ll see how that plays out.
From Allen West:
Following the 9/11 terrorist attack on America, then British Prime Minister Tony Blair presented President George W. Bush with a bronze bust of the UK’s famed and beloved World War II leader, Sir Winston Churchill. Bush placed the bust in the Oval Office where it remained until Obama took over. Then, claiming that the Oval Office was looking too cluttered, Obama promptly sent the bust back.
Apparently President-elect Trump is planning to change all that. In what could signify a thawing of what’s become, at best, a frosty relationship with the British, Trump indicated his intentions earlier this week.
United Kingdom Independence Party (UKIP) leader Nigel Farage said on Tuesday that the Churchill bust will take back its rightful place in the White House as a show of solidarity with the U.K.
Farage told Express U.K., “At the end of our time with Trump we asked him if the bust of Sir Winston Churchill that Obama had removed from the Oval Office could be put back in its rightful place. He enthusiastically thought that was a good idea. Need I say more?”
Obama and his minions originally lied about the placement of the bust, but the truth eventually came out. When reports initially surfaced of Obama’s decision to remove Churchill’s bust, Dan Pfeiffer (Communications Director at the time) said, “This is one hundred per cent false. The bust is still in the White House. In the Residence. Outside the Treaty Room.” The White House claimed it had merely been relocated, not removed.
The problem was British officials knew the bust was returned as it was sitting in the residence of Sir Peter Westmacott, Britain’s ambassador to the US at the time. While it’s true there is a Churchill bust outside the Treaty Room, that was a different one. The bust outside the Treaty Room was given as a gift to President Lyndon B Johnson in 1965. The White House then further lied and said it was part of the changeover operations. Instead an image of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. took Winston Churchill’s place.
It will be a relief to have this great man’s bust back in the Oval Office where it belongs. This is not something Trump will overlook… he will begin the process of winning back an important ally and honoring one of the greatest men in history.
