This past Thursday a 78 year old elderly woman was hospitalized after being brutally beaten by two African-American teenage girls. Reports indicate it took place near the C station in Brooklyn, New York. When the older woman asked the teenagers to move their feet so she could sit down a raucous argument ensued.
After the elderly woman got off the train near the Franklin Avenue stop the girls followed her and then proceeded to kick and punch her in the head and face. Video surveillance identifies the girls faces.
NYPD officials have reported that the girls mothers turned their children in to the 75th precinct station after seeing their faces all over different news outlets. The girls were 15 and 16 years old but their identifies are not being released because they are minors.
When asked by a reporter why they beat the elderly woman, one of the teens responded, “Oh my God, shutup!”
The elderly woman was hospitalized nearby and police believe she was released sometime Thursday evening. She lives in a Brooklyn senior center. Winston, an 86 year old man from the same senior center, commented on the issue, “It’s disgusting,” he said. He noted that he thinks the girls mothers did the right thing. Resident Eva Nelsons said, “she was a senior citizen, I don’t know what’s wrong with these kids today.”
The woman was identified as Norma Trotman. Her son told reporters that she had returned home but was in serious pain.
NYPD asks that people with information on the attack to call the Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS.
Kids make stupid mistakes. Like when they forget to do the laundry for the week. Or they play football instead of doing homework. The type of silly mistakes teenagers make. But their is a difference between a silly mistake and a conscious choice. These girls clearly made a choice. A despicable and heinous one at that. Actions have consequences and they should suffer the harshest one set forth.
