Two Mississippi Students Detained after IED Found at School

From The Clarion Ledger

An suspected explosive device was found on campus and two students were detained Wednesday following a bomb threat at Warren Junior High in Vicksburg.

Vicksburg Police Chief Walter Armstrong said the suspected bomb was found in a book bag on school grounds.

Two male students at Warren Central Junior High were detained and questioned, officials said. Authorities executed a search warrant on one of their homes Wednesday night.

“A student brought what was believed to be a homemade IED,” Anderson said. “He showed it to another student, and that student had the courage to tell school officials and the school was evacuated immediately.”

Students were evacuated to nearby Vicksburg Junior High School. Armstrong said no one was injured.

According to Armstrong, a bomb-sniffing dog found the device in the school library. The FBI was on scene with its bomb technician, spokesman Jason Pack confirmed. Read More
