From The Blaze: The extra measures were not immediately specified but a U.S. official confirmed to CNN that security levels at U.S. military bases were raised to “Force Protection Bravo” Thursday night. It was defined by the Pentagon as an “increased and predictable threat of terrorism” and it’s the first such widespread threat level elevation for U.S. military bases since the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.

The declaration came hours after FBI Director James Comey suggested there could be thousands of online supporters of the Islamic State in the U.S., and days after two gunmen were killed when they opened fire outside a Muhammad cartoon contest in Garland, Texas. The Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attack, though federal officials have not confirmed the link.
