(Conservative Tribune) Billionaire businessman and presidential candidate Donald Trump has been a busy man lately, what with his “Saturday Night Live” appearance, the GOP debate, and a number of rallies in various states.
That busy schedule may be taking a toll on the man, as he reportedly appeared somewhat tired and angry during a lengthy speech in Iowa Thursday night, and took shots at rival candidate Dr. Ben Carson and even America’s military leaders, according to The Washington Post.
Speaking about the radical Islamic State group in Iraq and Syria and the minimal effort our military has been allowed to make against them, Trump revealed a bit of his plans for confronting them,
Post reporter Jenna Johnson noted that Trump declared: “I know more about ISIS than the generals do. Believe me.”
Trump went on to say that he would target the vast oilfields of Iraq and Syria that are under Islamic State group control, pointing out that they bring in “millions of dollars a week” in revenue for the terrorist group.
“I would bomb the s*** out of them,” he proclaimed to a standing ovation. “I would just bomb those suckers. And that’s right: I’d blow up the pipes, I’d blow up the refineries. I would blow up every single inch. There would be nothing left.”
To be sure, Trump’s bombastic statement could very well be taken as an insult by our military’s generals, though presumably Trump was speaking of the political appointees in leadership positions that have permitted themselves to be kept on a leash by President Obama’s White House, and not the true leaders on the ground just waiting for the order to get things done.
Hopefully Trump takes the initiative to clarify his comments regarding our military’s generals, sooner rather than later, as the military and its supporters are a core constituency that he really doesn’t want to alienate.
