It’s cold comfort that these attacks didn’t happen here for no other reason that the immediate response would not be the defense of the homeland. CNN reporting: “Several shootings” took place this morning in downtown Ottawa, Canada’s capital, according to police. A Canadian soldier was shot dead in one of the incidents, at the National War Memorial near Parliament.
Extra security measures are being put in place at the Tomb of the Unknowns at Arlington National Cemetery, U.S. Army officials say.
