VIDEO: 71-Year-Old Chicago Man Shot While Watering His Yard

People should be able to feel safe in their own homes. They shouldn’t have to fear doing something as simple as watering their yards. But for people who live in Chicago, even that is dangerous. The homicide rate has grown to terrifying levels, and seemingly nowhere is safe.

Horrifying surveillance footage shows 71-year-old Federico Laguardia watering his lawn when he is approached by teenagers on bicycles. They wrestled the senior citizen to the ground, shot him, and then went through his pockets, robbing him. You can watch the footage here:

Anyone with any information about this despicable crime is urged to call the Chicago police. A $1,000 reward is being offered for tips that lead to the arrest of the people responsible. Thankfully, Laguardia was not killed, although he understandably is questioning why anyone would do this to him.

It’s a sad comment about the state of Chicago today when an elderly man can’t even safely water his own yard without being shot. This now makes 3,000 shootings in Chicago so far for the year 2016 — in a city with some of the most restrictive gun laws in the nation. Hey, liberals: how is that gun control working out for you?
