A federal jury in Minnesota found in July that the 2012 best-selling book libeled Ventura in describing a 2006 bar fight in California.

Kyle wrote that he decked a man later identified as Ventura after the man allegedly said the Navy SEALs “deserve to lose a few.”

Ventura insisted that he was defamed in the book, arguing that the incident never happened.

Kyle, in videotaped testimony before his 2013 death, insisted that he told the truth in the book.

Kyle, a decorated former SEAL, wrote the best-selling book, “American Sniper: The Autobiography of the Most Lethal Sniper in U.S. Military History,” detailing his 150-plus kills of insurgents during multiple tours in Iraq.

Taya Kyle’s lawyer, Larry Friedman, told Brian Kilmeade that errors were made during the trial and he believes that Taya Kyle will get “some relief” on appeal.

Friedman says Ventura did not meet the burden of proof to be victorious at trial, failing to win a unanimous verdict or even a 9-1 verdict.

Eventually, the jury was allowed to hand down an 8-2 verdict, Kilmeade pointed out.

“Jesse Ventura was given three bites at the apple and that’s not fair, it’s not right and it shouldn’t have happened that way,” said Friedman.

Friedman criticized Ventura for continuing with the case against Kyle’s widow after her husband was killed.
