You know when you’re a bad president when you make William Jefferson Clinton look tough on Islamic terrorism. Yes, the man who spent his second term mostly ignoring the threat of al-Qaeda made some recent comments that no one could ever imagine our commander in chief even thinking.
Clinton was on NBC’s “Late Night With Seth Meyers” recently, and in between asking Seth for Tina Fey’s phone number and doing that weird pointing with his thumb thing, the former perjurer in chief said something that actually made sense.
Meyers asked Clinton where the responsibility lies for the Charlie Hebdo attacks in Paris. “I agree that Muslim leaders have to do more to combat the extremists,” Clinton began.
“You read the profile of the two guys most prominently involved in the killing and how they got sucked into this by somebody essentially using religion and religious politics to advocate the world’s greatest double standard,”Clinton said.
“If you come to our country, we won’t let you worship the way you want. We won’t let you say what you want, “said Clinton, speaking rhetorically as one of the terrorists, “They won’t let you do what you want to do,” the former president said of the Muslim world.
“However we have come to your country, therefore we have a right to do whatever we want to do, including kill you if you make us mad.” (H/T Tea Party News Network.)
“It’s just madness,” Clinton continued.“I think it can be rooted out if, and only if, the modernizing Muslims, theArab Emirates, for example, Oman, which has tried to be a force in moving away from this, will do what they should do.”
Amazing. A Clinton who makes sense when talking about the Muslim world!
Of course, it would have been better had Clinton been a more outspoken advocate of this policy when he was in office and could have done something concrete about it.
However, it’s refreshing to see a Democrat say something our president doesn’t even have the intellectual courage to realize.
