(Conservative Tribune) President Barack Obama’s friend, former chief of staff, and current Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel once said something along the lines of never allowing a crisis to go to waste.
What Emmanuel meant is that a crisis provides an opportunity to advance a political agenda that would not normally be feasible.
Obama has shown rather dramatically that he will seize such opportunities to politicize any sort of crisis to further his progressive agenda, especially regarding gun control, as seen most recently after the tragic shooting at an Oregon community college.
But we have figured out his angle over the past seven years, and few of us are surprised anymore by Obama’s politicization of tragedy, including Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke, a staunch defender of our gun rights.
On Saturday, Clarke appeared on Fox News’ “Justice with Judge Jeanine” to discuss Obama’s latest push for strict gun control and his visit to Roseburg, Oregon, site of the terrible crime.
Clarke said, “You know, (President Obama) never misses an opportunity to politicize something. Any time there’s a tragedy that happens in the United States, he goes into his political bag of tricks to see what he can accomplish on his agenda, and it’s sad that he exploits these people and I’m glad they saw through it.
“This is a ‘do as I say, not as I do’ president, and he speaks as he is surrounded by this protective bubble, which he should have. If he wants to disarm people, he should start with his security staff,” Clarke added in his gruff, straight-to-the-point manner.
Sheriff Clarke is right. It is the height of hypocrisy for Obama and other liberal officials to demand stricter gun control, which disarms and leaves vulnerable law-abiding citizens, all the while protected by their own armed security details.
If Obama and Democrats want to disarm the American people, then they should lead by example and get rid of their own armed security first, to show their constituents just how safe it is to be disarmed in our current society.
