A video of a U.S. soldier in the Middle East is getting a lot of attention. The clip shows a man in Afghanistan sending a bold message to radical Muslims and terrorists — but he isn’t holding a weapon. Instead, the soldier is armed with a bright red electric guitar.
According to the description of the video, the unnamed member of the U.S. military set up the guitar and a powerful amplifier to blast the Star Spangled Banner to anyone within earshot.
The rock-themed national anthem also happened to be played right at “prayer time” of many radicals near the base.
At just the right moment of the guitar solo, other soldiers hoisted the American stars and stripes onto the base flag pole in the background.
“In a truly exceptional show of American patriotism, the soldier, decided to act out against the religion that has disrespected the world so much during the recent days,” stated the person who posted the video.
“Between the death of Major General Harold Greene – the highest ever ranking soldier to be killed by Muslim extremists – to the gruesome beheadings of American journalists Foley and Sotloff, this soldier decided to let Muslims know just what America thinks,” they continued.
The video has so far received around half a million views. Many comments on the video cheered for the strong American display.
“Well, as a very proud English woman, all I can say is f— brilliant!” wrote one person. “The only people who have a problem are the loony left…. Muslims don’t know the meaning of the word respect. They love to demand it, but can’t show it. So bollocks to them!”
However, not everyone was happy with the rebellious version of the national anthem.
“This is terrorism. If a soldiers from Afghanistan tried to occupy America and play snake charmer music during our church services wouldn’t you want to kill them in the worst way possible?” asked one commented.
Of course, someone who thinks that playing the guitar is terrorism has obviously not paid attention to reality for the last decade… or ever.
One of the greatest American traditions is rebelling against tyranny and forces who want to oppress others. The idea of liberty has built the greatest nation and secured the most freedom of anywhere in history.
It may not always be perfect, but America is still a force for good in a world filled with evil. There’s nothing more quintessentially American than rock and roll, an electric guitar, and the Star Spangled Banner.
