The woman in the video is Exhibit A of our broken welfare system, She is Kiara, 30 years old. She has been on welfare since the age of 18. That’s 12 years on government aid.
She does not have a job and doesn’t think she should get one. When asked how she feels about not having a job, she says, “I’m comfortable with it and I feel like I don’t need to look for one [a job] because I get a check from the government every month.”
She does look very comfortable. She certainly isn’t struggling too much to afford all the tattoos she wants, as well as a pricey handbag, hair braiding and nail job. But what she will never be able to do is provide an example of work to her children, and the cycle will go on to the next generation, just as the Democrats and LBJ designed it.
This afternoon, President Obama’s Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) released an official policy directive undermining the welfare reform law of 1996. The new policy guts the federal work requirements that have been the foundation of that law — one of the most successful domestic policy reforms in the 20th century.
The result is the end of welfare reform as we know it.
Why did Obama do this? Google “Cloward Piven” and it may all start to make sense.
