Army Staff Sergeant Ronald Hamilton has been charged in the murders of Officer Guidon and his wife, Crystal Sheree Hamilton, 29, according to ABC News. Mrs. Hamilton was the person who placed the 911 call prior to being shot, allegedly by her husband. The Hamilton’s 11-year-old son was found inside the family home unharmed. The department tweeted out a welcome message to Guidon and a fellow officer, Steven Kendall after their swearing in ceremony. It is not known if Kendal or the other officer pictured were involved in the shooting which occurred later that day.
The male subject at the home had allegedly murdered his wife. He reportedly ambushed the officers with a rifle as they approached his home. One of the other wounded officers was her training officer.
The suspect has been arrested and was uninjured in the process. He has not yet been identified, according to a Fox News report. Commonwealth Attorney Paul Ebery says he has authorized a capital murder charge against the suspect. Other charges have also been filed.
The wounded officers were all flown by air ambulance to Fairfax Hospital where Guidon eventually died from her injuries. The two other injured officers are expected to survive their injuries, Fox5 DC reported.
Hours later, hundreds of officers lined the roadway and escorted Guidon’s body from the hospital to the medical examiner’s office.
