Excerpted from Mad World News: A Florida pastor is outraging Muslims for a second time with his fashion choice while appearing in court on charges obtained a year ago when en route to burn about 3,000 Korans.
Pastor Terry Jones chose to sport a bold statement on his back when he showed up to the Polk County courthouse Tuesday in a shirt that read “Nuke ISIS.”
Jones was arrested last year near Tampa on the anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks after outraging Muslims worldwide with his plan to burn 2,998 kerosene-soaked Korans in remembrance of the victims, according to Florida’s Fox affiliate WTVT.
Officers nabbed Jones with illegally transporting fuel and openly carrying a firearm. The fuel charge was eventually dismissed by a judge, but he had to return to court this week after the state’s request for approval of new charges.
[quote_box_center]“I’m definitely surprised, they have absolutely no evidence,” Jones said of the charges in an interview with the affiliate. “The judge reviewed it; the judge threw it out. They knew they didn’t have any kind of chance from the very beginning. And they are just continuing to drag it out.”[/quote_box_center]
The outspoken church leader claims his life is under constant threat and is concerned that if given a felony conviction he would be stripped of his right to carry a firearm, which he relies on for his personal protection.
