via CBP: TUCSON, Ariz. – An undocumented migrant sustained injuries recently after smugglers told him to jump from a moving vehicle while fleeing a Border Patrol checkpoint. In two other events, agents discovered four undocumented migrants stowed in vehicle trunks.
On Oct. 27, Border Patrol agents referred a 2002 Dodge Ram truck for an immigration inspection at the I-19 checkpoint but the vehicle suddenly sped north onto I-19. The vehicle stopped a short time later near kilometer post 43. As agents searched the vehicle and areas nearby, they found an individual in close proximity just off the interstate. The man, identified as an undocumented Mexican National, had various cuts, scrapes and bruising all over his body. Agents learned he had been hiding in the truck and was told to jump out as it exited I-19.
Two days later, Border Patrol agents conducting an immigration inspection on a white Oldsmobile Alero at the I-19 checkpoint, discovered two undocumented Mexican Nationals in the vehicle’s trunk with no means of escape. In yet another recent incident, agents conducting an immigration inspection on a gray Ford Mustang at the I-19 checkpoint found two undocumented Mexican Nationals in the vehicle’s trunk.
Committing acts of violence against people, abandoning people in the middle of the desert, placing people in trunks of vehicles with no means of escape and poor ventilation and forcing people to jump from moving vehicles are the actions of depraved individuals. These individuals, who endanger the lives of innocent people, are being dealt with to the full extent of the law.
