BREAKING: Widow Of Slain Baton Rouge Officer Needs Your Help! This Is Urgent!

Matthew Gerald was shot and killed along with two fellow Baton Rouge officers on July 17th.

The officers were murdered about two weeks after 5 Dallas police were killed by a Black Lives Matter supporter.

Baton Rouge was on edge as a black man, Alton Sterling, was shot and killed by police on July 5th. Black Lives Matter held protest marches throughout the city.

Because of the high tensions, police in Baton Rouge worked 12 hour shifts for two weeks, with no days off. Officers rarely had time to see their families.

gerald21Dechia Gerald, Matthew Gerald’s wife, enjoyed some rare time together with him on July 12th, 5 days before he was shot and killed. Dechia believes that’s when something special happened… She became pregnant.

Dechia believes it is a gift from God seeing that her husband is gone.

Dechia told WAFB TV, “There’s no better gift that a husband could leave behind than a baby, a gift from God.”

The story of how she came to find out how she was pregnant seems to justify her belief in that.

When Dechia was looking for something to wear to her husband’s funeral, her 9-year-old daughter, Dawclyn, told her not to worry, because “you’re pregnant.” Days later, her younger daughter, Fynleigh, who is 3, told her the same thing.

Dechia explained, “She told me that Jesus told her that there was a baby boy in my tummy.”

A week later Dechia took a home pregnancy test. Her daughters proclamations were true. She was indeed pregnant. Dechia told WAFB, “I wanted to cry but at the same time, it’s kind of exciting.”

When Dechia was on her way to her first ultrasound, she heard her and her husband’s wedding song on the radio. She hadn’t heard it in awhile, and believed it was a sign.

When she saw the ultrasound, there appeared to be a wedding ring on the image of the baby. “I felt like when I saw that he was with us,” she told the station.

Dechia said of the surprise,

“For the most part, it’s a blessing. I mean obviously he left us a very special gift behind, but at the same time, all those days that I get overwhelmed, I ask how am I going to do this by myself without him.”

With her husband, who was also a former Marine, gone, Dechia will need help with the expenses that come with raising two kids & another on the way.

A GoFundMe account has been setup in her name. It has raised $50,000 so far. Let’s see what we can do and let this grieving widow & her children know that there are people out there who care.

Share this around so we can overwhelm Dechia and her kids with kindness!
