One Fort Collins, Texas woman learned the hard way that cops do not discriminate when it comes to assaulting officers. The incident happened on April 6, when officers were dispatched to a disturbance at Bondi Beach Bar. The officers were called to deal with an altercation between two men at the bar.
When the officers arrived at the bar, Michaella Surat, 22 shoulder-checked the bouncer and one of the officers. The officer told Surat that she was free to leave, but her boyfriend could not. That is when things began to escalate.
Surat then began to physically assault one of the police officers. That is when the officers decided to place this little hellion under arrest. Instead of her complying with the officer’s orders, she didn’t let up at all. Someone in the area began to record the incident and you see Surat actively resisting arrest.
Here is the video.
Of course, the video does not show what lead up to this point, which has lead to internet warriors calling police brutality. What these fools do not realize is that officers are allowed to use force when someone is resisting arrest. It is obvious that this officer used a simple takedown to gain control of this basket case.
Surat would not have been slammed if she would have just left the scene earlier. However, she chose to stay and then get physical with the officers. What else are they supposed to do when someone is assaulting them? Just let it go? I don’t think so.
Despite the internet outrage, the department is standing by the officer’s actions.
“Officers used a standard arrest control to subdue her,” Sergeant Dean
Surat was charged with third-degree assault and obstructing a police officer. Which I find to be perfectly legitimate. Maybe next time she will think twice before assaulting an officer of the law or anyone for that matter.
Do you think the officer’s response was legitimate? Sound off in the comments below!
